Traveling broadens the mind

I fucking hate this because it propagates the narrative of poor, innocent POCs providing “enlightenment” to white people. The images of POC cultures are incredibly stereotyped, and the last image in particular where the white man stands there glorifying over his image with “brown” kids in a room full of POC artifacts, I find especially disturbing and chilling.

Besides all of those fuckups, travel is not fatal toward bigotry at the end of the day (although it may help some). Just come to any POC country and watch the white tourists sauntering about like they own the place and like POCs are just additional parts of the scenery. In Asia especially with white male tourists, it’s particularly bad and it comes out in their interactions with Asian females especially. 

This comic is a train wreck, and it makes me sick tbqh. 

its also fucking ridiculous because you do not have to leave this country to experience other peoples’ lifestyles and culture. all you got to do is open your mind. the “authentic” experiences you get when you travel and stay in the tourist section of the country that you have traveled to is often much different than that of the culture of the people outside of touristy parts.
